In order to ensure the stability of our power grids and to successfully master the energy revolution in Germany, there is an urgent need for action to significantly increase the flexibility of the power grids. To achieve this, storage technologies must be integrated into the grid in a more network-friendly way and existing hurdles must be removed.
On the one hand, the white paper “Grid-friendly use of (large) storage systems — practical example and need for regulatory action” sheds light on the status quo of the use of battery storage systems in the German energy system based on the current market situation, application scenarios and a practical example of the battery storage roadmap. The network-friendly use of battery storage systems is then worked out, the existing challenges are identified and solutions are provided.
